Question: Jack Byrne Arena, where is it located? Torbay?
Answer: Yes, the Jack Byrne Arena is located just outside of St. John’s in Torbay! It is only/exactly 2.5kms from Stavanger Drive and the ramp coming onto Torbay Road from the Outer Ring Road.
Question: What was the event like last year?
Answer: It was a ridiculous amount of fun! Over 10,000 people attended the event and instead of us trying to tell you, take a look at photos from last year! http://nlkidsexpo.com/?page_id=573
Question: Last year it was really busy and crowded, will it be different this year?
Answer: YES! Last year saw unheard of numbers for a first time event but this year we are better prepared. We have increased the majority of our aisle sizes by 50%(some up to 15 feet wide). We have added additional bouncy castles, made the face painting section more user friendly and have laid out the kids zone to be more family friendly! The entrance/exit areas are much more spacious in the new location(Jack Byrne Arena) and everything is just BIGGER & BETTER!
Question: Parking was difficult last, will it be any better this year?
Answer: YES! There are an additional 350 parking spaces this year – total of 430 spaces at the Jack Byrne Arena.
Question: What comes with the price of admission? Is everything free?
Answer: Incredible value comes with the price of admission. Not only are all these businesses/activities in the one location for you to visit, each child will receive 3 free bouncy rides, a complimentary face painting and balloon twister! As well, all the shows, entertainment and events are included with admission. Is everything free? No! Unfortunately we cannot offer “everything” for free – some vendors will be selling items and some exhibitors will have services which are pay per use. Overall the NL Kids Expo offers incredible value for the price of admission.
Question: Last year my child came to see a mascot/character but they weren’t anywhere to be seen – why was this?
Answer: We have over 12 mascots/characters visiting the NL Kids Expo this year and it is near impossible to every character in attendance at all times – as well the characters get VERY WARM and it is not healthy to have a “character” on the floor for longer than 20 minutes. However, this year we will be posting on our web site a schedule of when a particular character will be making their appearance at the NL Kids Expo – this way you can schedule your visit! As well, this year there will be moderators with the characters to ensure people get equal time with their favourite fuzzy friend!
Question: Will there be a lot of activities there for the kids to participate in?
Answer: In addition to the bouncy castles, face painting, jugglers, NL Jungle Pets, Little Ray’s Reptiles, characters/mascot visits that the NL Kids Expo organizers are providing — exhibitors this year have everything planned from a cool science section, colouring, musical booths, mini-golf/hole in one challenge and more!
Question: Will there be any line-ups this year?
Answer: While we would love to say 100% no – this is a kids event and while we are confident we will drastically reduce line-ups this year – based on when you attend, there may indeed be some line-ups. Kids events in St. John’s and highly attended and ultimately we are a group of people trying to bring something different to the community and a great family event.
Question: Last year I didn’t even realize there were certain activities and stage sessions taking place – where will they be held this year and is the layout different?
Answer: Yes! Everything will happen on the main expo floor space. There is a dedicated stage for such events as the NL Jungle Pets, Little Ray’s Reptile show and other cool activities! There will also be some but limited seating allocated on a first come, first served basis.
